Tant & Jamadani is a traditional handloom fabric from the Bengal region of India and Bangladesh. It is known for its fine texture, intricate designs, and airy feel. The weaving process involves using a combination of cotton and silk threads that results in a lightweight and breathable material that is perfect for warmer climates. The weaver works on a traditional loom called the ‘Tant’ which is made of bamboo and has an adjustable width. The weaving process is slow and requires great skill and patience.
In West Bengal, we are working with 1000 women artisans attached to 50 producers groups.
