Sabai grass looks like any other grass. It is light, easy to work with, strong, and durable, and can be dyed easily. Mayurbhanj District in Odisha is a famous center of sabai grass weaving. Sabai grass was earlier used to make rope, but this natural fiber is now stylishly fashioned into products such as baskets, cots, furniture, wall hangings, decorative boxes, and coasters. Sabai grass is also used in the paper industry where it binds bundles of paper.
