Madhubani
Madhubani is a type of folk art form of Bihar. Mithila/Madhuban art paintings are created by artists using a variety of mediums, including their own fingers, twigs, brushes, nib pens & match sticks. The painting of Madhubani to represented by line drawings filled with bright colors & contrasts or patterns. Natural dyes pigments are used in this art form. However, now acrylic colours are also used. Madhubani refers to the market town of Bihar of the same name. Themes of Madhubani paintings are based on scenes and stories of Puranas. They also depict people & associations with nature & deities from the ancient epics Natural objects like the sun, and the moon & religious plants like Tulsi are also widely painted along with scenes from the royal court & social events like weddings.
