Sambalpuri

Sambalpuri Saree originates from Odisha, India. These are hand-woven traditional sarees where in the weft and the warp are first tied, dyed, and then carefully woven. Usually, they are produced in the Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, and Balangir districts of Odisha. Sambalpuri sarees especially are known for the use of traditional motifs resembling its association with this beach state such as sankha or shell, Phule or flower, and chakra or wheel. At times in some of the sarees, animal motifs also are used for enhancing the look of the pallu and borders.

Pattachitra

Pattachitra style of painting is one of the oldest and most popular art forms of Odisha. Patachitra artform is known for its intricate details as well as mythological narratives and folktales inscribed in it. The name Pattachitra has evolved from the Sanskrit words patta, meaning canvas, and Chitra, meaning picture. Pattachitra is thus a painting done on canvas which is manifested by rich colorful applications, creative motifs, designs, and portrayal of simple themes, mostly mythological in depiction. The individual paintings of gods and goddesses are also being painted.

Sabai Grass

Sabai grass looks like any other grass. It is light, easy to work with, strong, and durable, and can be dyed easily. Mayurbhanj District in Odisha is a famous center of sabai grass weaving. Sabai grass was earlier used to make rope, but this natural fiber is now stylishly fashioned into products such as baskets, cots, furniture, wall hangings, decorative boxes, and coasters. Sabai grass is also used in the paper industry where it binds bundles of paper.
